REGISTRATION (How to
Apply)
There are three main pathways for an applicant
to become a licensed Nova Scotia Land Surveyor (NSLS):
1)
Registration and entry in the active membership
roster (new)
2)
Applicants registered in another Canadian
jurisdiction (interprovincial)
3)
Applicants not currently registered in another
Canadian jurisdiction (international)

The association will respond to inquiries from
applicants for registration, within a reasonable time (usually
within three business days).
If an applicant is unable to submit documents required for the registration and licensing
process for reasons beyond the applicants’ control, the Association of
Nova Scotia Land Surveyors (ANSLS) will work with the applicant
to accept alternative information.
The
ANSLS Policy on Accepting Alternative Information
provides details on what alternative information may be
acceptable, and under what circumstances. If an applicant
informs the Association they are unable to provide the standard
required information or documentation, and the Association
determines there is no acceptable "alternative information", the
Association will inform the applicant of this whithin a
reasonable time (withing 10 days). The Executive Director
may request the applicant to provide additional information, or
evidence to demonstrate why the applicant is unable to provide
the required documentation.
The
ANSLS
Policy on Accommodation provides additional
information for applicants (or someone intending to apply)
who would like to apply for accomodation if they have a physical
or mental disability.
Upon written request from an applicant, the Association will provide the
applicant with access to records held that are related to the application.

During the registration process, an applicant can
appeal a registration decision
from the Board of Examiners.
